Week 8-Greco

Atlanta@Philly  Falcons +3 The Eagles have had a week off to figure out their new Defense Coordinator’s schemes. Hey Coach Reid, you might be looking for a new gig after this season if you don’t fix the entire team.  There are a lot of issues with the Eagles and I don’t think facing the Falcons is going to help things. Atlanta goes to 7-0 after this one.

Oakland@KansasCity  Chiefs -1.5 This is just a classic battle here! I never bet against the Chiefs at Arrow Head stadium (well once, this year and  the Ravens made me look like a fool). So with Brady Quinn getting the start at QB (Matt Cassel concussed last week) it could be a revamped offense. NEGATIVE! The Chiefs are still going to pound the rock and rarely pass. Also a note in this matchup is the injury to Janikowski. He was listed with a “left groin” injury, I’m not going to make any funny comments here but you get the drift.

NY Giants@Dallas  Giants -2.5  This will be a rematch and the Gmen are not going to take this lightly. After a surprise defeat in week one, they will get their chance in Jerry World. I’m not going to break this match up down as there is no point. The Cowboys are inconsistent and the Giants are the defending World Champs looking for revenge.

I am Back!

After a week long stint off the grid I just checked myself out of Schick Shadel recovery center  thanks Pat O'Day. After looking at my picks 2 weeks ago I realized I had a problem... The picks were as Scottrodamus would say  "El terrible".   So here we go I'm Guaranteeing 3 for 3 this week:

I have Oakland +1  Over Kansas City Chiefs
Normally I hate picking against the Chiefs at home but with Quinn starting for KC I see Oakland making those Roman Gladiator fans who booed Cassel off the field begging for Cassels return.

Seattle +1.5 Over The Detroit Lions
Call me a homer all you want, I love the match up Seattle has this week on defense with Big Worm Sherman Changing his name to Optimus Prime.  I see Seattle's Db's being to big and physical to allow Megatron to make a impact.

Giants -1.5 over The Sorry Cowboys
The Giants are gonna put a whooping on the cowboys after the early season defeat to Dallas.  The cowboys will hang around but blow it late, like usual.

Week 8 NFL GURU picks!

And we're baaack!  I just returned from my week-long party celebrating my 3-0 picks from last week.  Strangely I didn't see the Mizz or Greco there, they must have been in the lower mezzanine in the losers section.

The mighty Hawks go east to the beautiful city of Detroit to take on the falling Lions.  Their out of sync offense should be a feeding frenzy for the defense.  Read an article of how much better the Seattle offense has performed at the beginning of the game, perhaps they should just script the whole damned game and make 0 adjustments. Hopefully, @DangeRussWilson comes out alive.  Speaking of Twitter, Big Worm Sherm aka @RSherman_25 has changed his Twitter name to Optimus Prime, you like? No like? He could be a comment or three away from being muzzled.

Mia@NYJ (NYJ-2.5) Get ready for your healthy dose of shots of Fireman Ed while watching this AFC gem of a game.  The Dolphins travel right into the heart of hurricane country, uh wait, no that's right, to avenge their heartbreaking collapse back in September. I foresee a healthy dose of Shon Greene and the NYJ ground game with the Perfect Storm II in the mix.   Btw did you know the Jets are 4-0 ATS against past AFC opponents and they are 5-0 ATS in their past five in October?

NO@Den (NO+6.5) If you're auditing me you'll wonder where the Philly game pick went? Well I saw the pre game shots of Vick throwing the ball and the wind was a howling! Yes, the weather does matter. The Saints are in a dogfight to get playoff eligible and travel out west in a historic matchup against no.18. This line is just too big for me too ignore as I think this results in a close game edged out by the Broncos by a field goal. (Signing out at 9:30 am, there will be no accusations of fraud on my blog pal!)

SF@AZ (U 38) Zona are home dogs by a touchdown. Vegas finally paying attention to NFC West play and set the total points line at 38. Here comes the quintessential Scottrodamus "did you know" question. Ahem, did you know that the under has won in all NFC division games? This is probably about as low as I would go too. Give me 20-17 or hell even 27-10 Niners, I'm still getting paid on it.

Week 7 NFL GURU picks

I write this and submit this as I prepare to watch my Arizona Wildcats play against the UW puppies.  I must admit, Rich Rodriguez is starting to grow on me.  He does whine a lot, not as much as Stoops, but after years and years of incompetence on the offensive side, these Cats can up some points!  BEAR DOWN!

For the Seahawk faithful, it's been a tough week.  We all knew it would be a tough divisional game on the road flying from the west coast to the west coast.  They dropped the ball, literally and figuratively, but let's change the subject, as I'll just get pissed and pick games based on emotion and not my inner-guru-ness.

For those watching, yes, I have erased the scars of week 1 by going 2-1 each of the past few weeks.  I can't say the same for my colleagues, Greco, and the Mizz.  Send em your thoughts and wish em the best of luck, THEY NEED IT.

Onto the picks, honestly, I really want to also take Pats giving 10.5 also but let's keep it civil around here.

GB@STL (GB-5) The under has reigned in the past 4 STL games, translation? Defense.  "So, Mr 'Damus are you saying that their D is going to shut them down after you just picked em?" No no no, they have faced some mediocre offenses in the Dolphins, Cardinals, and Hawks.  The new AROD (sorry Alex you lost your AROD privileges) is playing with a chip on his shoulder, and Skip continues to flame that fire.

AZ@Min (U 40.5) Here we have a couple of low level bottom feeders at 2-4...uh err I mean 4-2! I see a defensive battle here, as both teams are top 10 ranked, hell I would have taken the under on 33, well maybe not that low, but you catch my drift.

NO@TB (NO-1) The big news here is that Vilma has been activated.  Historically this is a split series, going back the past 4 years. However, I do have one thing going for me, the road team is 13-5 ATS.  Nothing too great stands out, the Tampa D is decent against the run, but the NO run isn't game great either so moot point.  Tampa has played a weak schedule so far and I like the Saints putting up some points to win on the road after finally getting their first win last week.

Week 7-Greco

A very interesting week here in Seattle. As we heard all the anti-Hawks chirpin away at our team. First it was Romo, then it was Rodgers and now it was Brady. All of them having bad days…Interesting if you ask me, just give the Seahawks some damn credit already national media. Oh by the way, Tom, Big Sherm shut your ass up didn’t he? On to Week 7 picks!

Redskins@Giants Giants -5.5 After the Gmen blew up the 49ers in San Fran last week they get to take on the Redskins at home. The Gmen are riding a two game losing streak to the Skins but I see that streak ending this week. Osi Umenyiora this summer referred to the starting Skins QB as “Bob” because he didn’t think he deserved the nickname RG3. I couldn’t agree more as the Gmen take it to the Skins in tough matchup.

Jets@Patriots Patriots -10 The Jets are riding a high this week but it comes to an abrupt end this week when they travel to New England. “It’s borderline illegal because sometimes the guys aren’t always set when they snap the ball” Calvin Pace this week. The crying has already begun for the beating that is going to take place here folks. Well Calvin, the Hawks beat them so shut up and play some D. The four way tie on top of the division isn’t going to last past this week as the Pats take control.

Cowboys@Carolina Cowboys -2.5 Good God I have no idea why I’m picking Romo and the Cowboys here. I just know the Panthers have lost 4 straight and are a hot mess right now. Cam is in a sophomore slump and can’t find his way out of it. The stingy Dallas D is going to have a field day in this one.  I would be willing to tease the line up to -6 in this one. Take it to the bank.

Hawks Week 6

Thought I would shard a bit of opinion on the Hawks game. Well Richard Sherman shares my point so I'll let him tell you. Here is the link to Sherman going off in the locker room after the game. Enjoy!  http://101.gs/bduem

Bye bye Brady

Postgame quotables: Richard Sherman being, well, Richard Sherman and the rest of the Seahawks | Seahawks Insider

Big perm Sherms Twitter feed had/has some nice jabs directed at the golden boy, however didn't see the post which shows them after the game (see pic below), which may have been deleted.

Richard Sherman (@RSherman_25) tweeted at 6:34 PM on Sun, Oct 14, 2012: Brady sure looks like a man who turned the 12thMan against us http://t.co/FeAFs78Q (https://twitter.com/RSherman_25/status/257655651399004161)

Remaining Week 6 guru picks

It gameday folks! Someone hacked the Mother Nature mainframe and set us back to normal fall weather. It does set a nice tone of misery of what's ahead for Tommy boy. If you're a Legion of Boom fan and you've been waiting for a t-shirt, someone designed one and they're ready for purchase.  Check out the pic below.  Now onto the week 6 picks!

I think personally I am 1-10-1 lifetime when betting on the Steelers ATS, so I will be taking this into consideration next time I want to take a Steelers game.  Heck of a week for the Mizz last week.  You're more than welcome to leave a comment of endearing support or if you just want light his ass up, the floor is yours.

GB @ Hou (O46.5) Houston has only given up 20 points or more once, and that was to the Broncos.  However they've also faced some offensively challenged squads like the Jags, Dolphins, Titans, and Bozo and the clown crew aka the Jets.  Look for ARod to find his mojo and imaginary air pistols to finally put up some points.

NYG @ SF (NYG+7) Are you kidding me? One touchdown favorites and it's only October? Last year, Vegas had the Niners at 4 point faves and they covered by a touchdown in the regular season, however the G-men had the last laugh ending up with some hardware in February.  There has been a lot of buildup in this one already, which should result in a well challenged defensive game ending by the difference of a field goal.

Week 6

Last week was a little rough.... Time to reset, here we go:

I will take the Colts at +3.5 over the J-E-T-S.  I just can't stand watching that joke the jets put on the field every week and call it offense.  Andrew Luck and Reggie Wayne will ride a emotional win from the previous week and continue the winning streak!

Ill take the Giants +6.5 @ San Francisco
How can the defending Superbowl champs be such a road dog? Even if they lose Eli's ability to get the ball down field they will keep this one close. Plus who actually trusts Alex Smith.... Not I...

Finally taking a favored team here, Ill take The Bengals at -1.5 over the Browns.

Gonna be a long year in Cleveland this year. This loss might turn the Big shows already hot seat in to a whistling tea kettle.

Week 6-Greco

Dallas@Baltimore Baltimore -3.5 The “Elite Gun Slinger” known as Tony Romo brings his 23rd passer rating of 78.5 to Baltimore to face the Ravens. Dallas may have given up the fewest passing yards so far this season but Flaco is going to have a field day. Baltimore has the 5th rated passing attack averaging 281 per game. Dallas has 29th ranked rushing attack and facing Ray Lewis and Co. will not help build that dreaded number. Baltimore will capture glory in this one. Take it to the bank.

Cincinnati@Cleveland Cincinnati -1.5 The Bengals travel to a winless Browns team. Everyone loves the Ginger this year and why not in this one. Cincy has a 4 game winning streak dating back to December of 2010. Cleveland is giving up 28 points per game and the Dalton to Green combo could be in for a big day. There is a 70% chance of precipitation in this one but I see the Bengals taking it to the pathetic Browns.

Denver@San Diego Denver +1 I will take Manning and points every day when he is taking on Philip “crybaby” Rivers. I don’t even need to break this one down. I will say this in the words of Anchorman’s Champ Kind “WHAMMY!!!” as Peyton takes it to the Chargers early.

Week 6 picks (TNF Edition)

I am so frickin' busy watching the baseball playoffs I am surprised I had a moment to get my Thursday night pick in.  Right.

Pit @ Ten (Pit -6) Not much going well in Nashville at the moment.  Their defense is giving up over 30 points a game, they're in the Hurt Locker, err I mean Locker is hurt, Baldy is starting, Chris Johnson is complaining about the whole team, and aside from the Detroit miracle, they haven't put up more than 14 points.  Pittsburgh desperately needs a road victory to keep pace with the Ravens and Bengals in the AFC North race.  Going back to last years matchup, the Steelers easily covered by a couple touchdowns and I see them definitely covering by at least one touchdown tonight.

The remaining picks will come before Sunday's kickoff as I am still looking over the weather reports for this weekend and the hours of game film from last week.

The rest of my guru Week 5 NFL picks

Please welcome the Mizz, the Artist formerly known as Neva for those of you keeping track.  Oh yeah, kudos to the Mizz for the first moneyline bet of the year. Today is a big day for our beloved Hawks who have flown to the east coast for a 1pm Pacific time kickoff.  Normally, I'd be watching the 10am games but not today my friends, especially with Comcast sentencing me to a Giants Browns game.  Today is El Clasico at Estadio Camp Nou!  This game should take us right up to Hawks kickoff and the final should closely resemble Madrid 2 - Barcelona 1, Hala Madrid!  I now know what Jose Mourinho must go through deciding his lineup for a match after finally playing as Madrid on FIFA 13, TOO MUCH TALENT.  Off of futbol and on to football!

Den @ NE (O 51.5) The Brady Manning rivalry has renewed and the over should easily win here.  Both times last year they played, the over paid out, and that was with Tebow at the helm!  70% chance of rain today in Foxboro, however, won't stop an epic duel between these 2.  I foresee a 34-31 victory with Gostowski redeeming himself this week.

Hou @ NYJ (Hou-8) What a mess in New York.  Many were fooled by them dropping 48 the first game and expected the offense to be decent.  My captain obvious point of the day -- the QB controversy will only continue to grow as this offense struggles and you know who continues to sit on the bench.  Santonio is donezo, Revis is on Injury Island.  Houston is rolling into town with New Orleans already on their mind in February.  They're riding with the #1 defense in scoring and yards allowed.  Good luck Monday night Sparano, maybe if you took your shades off you could see a better gameplan.

Time To Be Heard!

The Fans having been asking about the Mizz and His extended sabbatical. Well I am back and just in the nick of time! It is about time someone added some legitimacy to this blog!
The Mizz's Seal of approval for locks of the week goes as follow:

                                              1.  Houston -8 over the Jets
The Jets don't have a shot at scoring 14 against the Texans and the Jets can't hold back a well oiled machine known as Matt Schaub, the Texans will put up it least 27 on the Jets.

                                               2. Cincinnati -3.5 over the Miami Dolphins
Not Much to say here the crafty Ginger will lead his team leaning strongly on the law firm to out class the Rookie lead Miami Dolphins. Plus we all know Miami gets pushed around once they play in cold weather cities.

                                                3. Finally San Diego over the Saints who are -3.5
Not even Taking the points on this one San Diego Straight up beats the Saints who still don't even have a head coach! Philip Rivers the legendary shit talker himself  will be able to rub it in the already pathetic group of guys that the Saints call a secondary, all game long.

              # All In and Let It Ride!

Remaining Week 5 Picks-Greco

Well it was nice to see “The Maestro” and the Cardinals embarrass me on Thursday Night Football. It was a solid run for Greco as I went 4-0-2 in the past two weeks. This weeks picks are all road teams for the first time of the year. On to the picks!

Chicago -5.5 Chicago@Jacksonville The Monsters of the Midway show up on the sunny beaches of Jacksonville this week and bring a potent run stuffing Defense. The Bears have the #3 in the league giving up a measly 67.2 yards per game. The Jags have the worst rated Offense in the league thus far, the Bears in a laugher here. Take it to the bank!

Baltimore -6 Baltimore@Kansas City Normally I would never bet against the Chiefs at Arrowhead but they are a hot mess at quarterback. There is chatter of replacing Cassel with the golden boy Brady Quinn. The Chiefs have the most turnovers in the NFL at 15 and have not led at all this season in any game. Strangely enough it’s the Ravens Offense that is setting the table for their 3-1 mark. Mr Flacco is leading the charge of the #2 Offense in the league. Meanwhile the Chiefs have given up the second most points thus far. Ravens take them out early and simply beat them with a stick.

-Greco
